Did someone help you out during Whiteout 2010? nvdaily.com reader Carol Ellinger e-mailed us her thank yous to people and businesses who have helped her during the storm. If you would like to thank someone, sign in below and post your thank you in the comments area below.
We'll start off with Carol's thank you message:
Here's my Thank You: I wanted to say thanks to Holzman Oil who was able to deliver oil to my home BEFORE the first big storm. Not only did they deliver, but they were polite and helpful about it. The other two large oil companies were rude and almost hateful on the phone. Not to mention that they weren't able to deliver oil! Holtzman kept my babies warm and they will always have my business from this point forward. Good service should be recognized!
My second thank you is to Kenny Wood out of Middletown. He was able to service my furnace three times over the last week. Not only that, but he came out on a Sunday when the roads were still bad. The town of Front Royal has not done a good job with our roads, but he came anyway.
And because the roads were so poorly plowed, I was saved an entire day's shoveling by a kind soul who plowed me out of my driveway. So I paid it forward yesterday and helped my neighbor shovel her way out of HER driveway.
Thanks to the local businesses and citizens who have worked together instead of against one another! If someone showed you kindness during this mess, please pay it forward in whatever way that you're able!

Just a note of thanks to our carrier, James, in the Morgan Ford area of Warren County. I can only assume that was him this morning bright and early, but I wanted him to know we appreciate him (and whoever was in the passenger seat because yes, I did have to peak out the window to see who on earth was in my driveway!) Thanks NVD and all the carriers in the area.
Carolyn Majors:

My son and I were shoveling our driveway in Front Royal and this young man was walking down the street with a snow-blower. I waved at him as he started to go by, and he stopped and used the snow blower on the rest of the driveway for us! It really made my day and has made me see that there still are nice people in this world!! So..to who-ever stopped to help us, I send a great big THANK YOU!! :)
I know that the road crews were busy during the storm but the town did a terrible job with the main streets in town. I live on a county road and would have rather drive on my road which did not get plowed until Monday night than drive thru town. The amount of snow and ice on the roads on Monday was a joke. I was in town twice on Sunday and did not see one piece of snow removal equipment. Did they take the day off?? The county roads were much better than town and other towns were not like Front Royal. On Monday most of the trucks I saw riding around had their plows up not doing a thing to help with the slush on top of the packed ice and snow. Town road crew employees should be embarrassed by the crappy job they did.
I wanted to post a thank you to the wonderful men in our community who came out to shovel out their neighbors. We have several men who regularly keep our common areas mowed and clean and who also take it upon themselves to plow out their neighbors without even being asked. They all deserve a big hand and acknowledgement from all of us at Shenandoah River Lakes. Thank you all for all you do!!!

I want to thank Richard Keel who braught my brother Radar way out of his way to bring my family fire wood and groceries. We have about a 1/2 mile unplowed driveway and were in desperate need of supplies.
I also want to mention that our local businesses may want to say thank you to the UPS men who have to deliever and arrive to work no matter how bad it is every Monday thru Friday. Alot of those drivers do not live near the hub in Front Royal. They are from Woodstock, Winchester and surrounding areas. They get written up for not being able to make it in blizzard or not. So when you see them make sure you let them know how greatful you are.
We'd like to thank the mystery man on the bobcat that was on Little Sorrel Dr on Sunday. Had it not been for you my husband and son would have been shoveling forever.
Not only do we not know who it was, he didn't stick around long enough for us to offer him money.
Thanks again.
I want to thank Lester Orndorff for helping me when my husband was snowed in at work for the weekend. Lester just appeared in my driveway with his tractor and started pushing. I had to go to work on Monday, so he helped make that possible. Thank you, Lester!
