Red-haired man steals car from Fort Collier Road parking lot

Winchester police are seeking a man who stole a green 2005 Chrysler Pacifica from the parking lot of the Family Dollar store located at 715 Fort Collier Road. A teen-ager who was in the car when the thief entered it was able to escape.

According to a press release issued Sunday night:

"The victim told officers at the scene that he and his wife had parked their vehicle on the parking lot and went inside of the business. Their fourteen (14) year old daughter remained inside of the vehicle and the keys were also left in the car. A 35 to 40 year old white male who had been observed in the area opened the driver's door and entered the vehicle. The juvenile who was inside was able to get out of the vehicle unharmed. The suspect and vehicle then left the area driving South on Fort Collier Road. No weapon was displayed.

"The vehicle is a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica green in color bearing Virginia registration XMT 4409. The vehicle also has tinted windows. The suspect is described as a 35 to 40 year old white male with red hair approximately 6 feet in height weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a red plaid jacket, blue shirt, blue jeans, with brown boots. Additional information obtained by officers at the scene indicates the vehicle could possibly be en-route to an unknown location in Baltimore, Maryland."
