Front Royal police cars get a new look

Front Royal police cars will be going back to the traditional black and white. The new look will be unveiled tonight at the Town Council meeting.
"My officers have been asking for a new design of our patrol vehicles and my staff and I decided now was a good time to make that change," Chief Richard H. Furr said in a press release issued today.
The vehicles will be painted by the town's vehicle maintence shop staff. In addition to the change in color, the vehicles' decals will be changed slightly.

Tough job market, real estate is going down the drain, people are losing thier homes left and right, business downturn is the worst it has been in decades and Front Royal wants to repaint thier police cars. Because the paint is fading and doesn't look professional? No. Because the current paint jobs aren't high enough visibility? No. Ok, then why? (to be fair, the article doesn't mention if any of the above are accurate, so we are forced to assume that they aren't) Oh, becuase we want a different look. Bad decision, bad timing. Our tax base is shrinking and the local police think this is a great time to blow multiple thousands of taxpayer dollars because they want thier cruisers to look different. Did they really consider any of this?
