Company joins Front Royal police in 'Over the limit, under arrest' campaign

The Front Royal police department and B.J. Sager Distributing of Winchester are teaming up for an end of the summer DUI checkpoint campaign.

Front Royal police issued this press release today:

CHEKPOINT:STRIKEFORCE "Over The Limit, Under Arrest" campaign

Chief Richard H. Furr of the Front Royal Police Department announces that his department will be participating in the upcoming CHECKPOINT:STRIKEFORCE campaign which is set to begin on August 20th and last through Labor Day.

"The purpose of this campaign is to make motorists aware that driving impaired is a crime that we take very serious. Our department has taken a "ZERO TOLERANCE" stance against impaired driving and if a driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol, they will be arrested."

Chief Furr also adds "We are very proud to partner with B.J. Sager to continue to keep our community safe."

Traffic Enforcement Officer Donald Orye states "We have partnered up with B. J. Sager Distributing of Winchester to help us to get the word out. Last year, 316 people lost their lives in a crash which alcohol was a contributing factor. We want to prevent these types of crashes. We want motorists to have a good Labor Day weekend, but if you are going to drink, drink responsibly. Have an alternate plan to travel instead of driving if you consume alcohol."

Orye also adds "During this time frame, drivers can expect to see extra officers on patrol as well as some checkpoints at various times and locations."

Driving impaired is a Class 1 Misdemeanor for a first and second offense and a felony for a third or subsequent offense and will result in a license suspension, fines, and jail time.

"At B.J. Sager Inc, we're committed to keeping our roadways safe, Labor Day and every day." says Laura Frappollo, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator at B.J. Sager. "By celebrating responsibly, everyone can have a fun, safe holiday. We are proud to partner with the Front Royal Police Department in their efforts to keep our roads safe for our neighbors, friends and families."

First, nice spelling in your press release: CHEKPOINT:STRIKEFORCE

The police chief says: Our department has taken a "ZERO TOLERANCE" stance against impaired driving and if a driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol, they will be arrested.

So is he saying that if I'm UNDER the legal limit of .08, say around .02, he is STILL going to arrest me??

Then he says: Driving impaired is a Class 1 Misdemeanor for a first and second offense and a felony for a third or subsequent offense and will result in a license suspension, fines, and jail time.

Wouldn't I be driving 'impaired' but still under the limit? So how is he going to do this legally? Oh, I guess he won't do it legally then!!!
