WINCHESTER -- Frederick County has reinstated its ban on outdoor burning.
"Due to a new wave of extreme heat and drought like conditions throughout Frederick County, the Fire Marshal's Office has issued a Burn Ban on ALL outside burning, both Commercial and Residential/Private," a press release issued today states.
The ban includes training fires, campfires, warming fires, brush piles, household trash and any other burning capable of spreading fire, according to the release.
The use of grills or stoves only for cooking is alllowed if the equipment is in "good working order," the release states.
Any person or business convicted of violating the ban faces a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail and a fine of up $2,500.
Officials will evaluate the need for the ban daily and lift the prohibition when conditions improve, the release states.
