Police investigate break-in at Frederick Douglas Elementary

Winchester police are investigating a break-in that was reported early this morning at Frederick Douglas Elementary School.
Police issued the following release today:
September 27, 2010
On 09/27/10 at approximately 0551 hours Winchester Police were called to Frederick Douglas Elementary located at 100 West Cedarmeade Avenue to a report of a breaking and entering. A teacher employed with the school summoned officers to the school after discovering the school had been broken into. An unknown suspect (s) gained entry into the building on the west side of the building by breaking the glass to a door. Numerous areas inside the school were vandalized, including offices and the cafeteria area. Several broken windows were discovered along with numerous desks which were ransacked throughout the school.
Officers searched the area and were unable to locate any suspects. After meeting with Winchester Public School officials it was decided this investigation would not interfere with normal school operations.
