The Virginia Department of Transportation will be working on the following roads Feb. 14-18:
 
SHENANDOAH COUNTY
Interstate 81
* Mile marker 263.9 to 298, northbound and southbound - Debris removal and sign work. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary Roads
No lane closures reported.

Secondary Roads
* Route 609 (South Hollingsworth Road) - Swinging bridge is closed and removed until further notice. This location is 0.20 mile east of Route 670 (East Reservoir Road). Signs and barricades will be located, closing bridge to all pedestrian traffic.


FREDERICK COUNTY
Interstate 81
* Mile marker 300 to 324, northbound and southbound - Debris removal, fence and guardrail work. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary Roads
* Route 522 - Intersection improvement at Route 642 (Tasker Road) including additional turn lane and signal installations. Lane closures and lane shifts during construction. Work is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Estimated completion is spring 2011.

Secondary Roads
* Various roads - Tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.


CLARKE COUNTY
Primary Roads
* Route 255 - Tree trimming from Route 723 to Route 50. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.

WARREN COUNTY
Interstate 66
* Mile marker 0 to 13, eastbound and westbound - Debris removal, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Interstate 81
* Mile marker 298 to 300, northbound and southbound - Debris removal, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary Roads
* Route 340/522 - Alignment of Route 658 at intersection of Route 340/522. Construction will include additional turn lanes and traffic signals. Lane and shoulder closures, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Estimated completion is summer 2012.

Secondary Roads
* Route 613 - Tree trimming from Route 340 to Route 649. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
* Route 1026 (Happy Creek Road) Front Royal area - Road improvement project from Sixth Street and Bradford Drive to near Route 606 (Shenandoah Shores Road). Temporary lane closures 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
 
PAGE COUNTY
Primary Road
* Various roads - Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Secondary Roads

ALLEGHANY COUNTY
Interstate 64
* (NEW) Mile marker 0 to 41, eastbound and westbound - Pothole repair, cleaning drop inlets and debris removal. Mobile lane closure, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* (NEW) Mile marker 29, eastbound and westbound - Bridge deck maintenance on bridge over Route 42. Possible single-lane closure, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Mile marker 18 to 24.5, westbound and eastbound - Median barrier construction installation project. Left lane closed. The speed limit in the work zone is 45 mph. Wide loads up to 16-feet in width can proceed through the work zone. A temporary concrete barrier has been placed in the median at mile marker 19. This is between exit 16 at Route 60/220 at the Mallow Mall area and exit 21 at Route 696 in Low Moor and Selma. This barrier will remain in place during the winter season.

* Route F-205 (Irvine Farm Road) - Flagging operations for I-64 median barrier project work.
* Route 311 (Kanawha Trail) - Box culvert replacement at Tygers Creek. Work will affect southbound lane from 3.39 miles north of Route 159 to 0.06 mile south of Route 602 adjacent to the CSXT Railroad. One way traffic is being diverted to the northbound lane tunnel. Signs, channelizing devices and temporary traffic signals will direct traffic through the work zone. Work is weather permitting. Motorists should use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone.
* Various routes - Pothole repairs, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Flagger traffic control.
 
Secondary Roads
* Route 616 (Rich Patch Road) - Box culvert replacement at Karnes Creek. Paving to begin when weather permits. The 10-foot roadway width restriction has been lifted. Work zone will be active on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with signs and flaggers as needed. Motorists should use extreme caution in this area and watch for construction vehicles.
* Route 1101 (Winterberry Avenue) - Flagging operations for I-64 median barrier project work.
* Various roads - Shoulder and pothole repairs, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Flagger traffic control.
 
 
BATH COUNTY

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY
Interstate 64
* Mile marker 41 to 56, eastbound and westbound - Debris removal, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
Interstate 81
* Mile marker 173 to 205, northbound and southbound - Debris removal, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
* (UPDATE) Blasting will occur on Feb. 15, Feb. 16 and Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. The blasting locations will be on I-81 between mile-markers 197 to 202. Signs are posted in this area. Both northbound and southbound lanes will have a rolling mobile lane closure. Setting a barrier over the Route 716 Bridge will close the right northbound lane from mile marker 195 to 196, Feb. 16, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

* Mile marker 220 to 221 northbound and southbound - Inspection at Route 262 Bridge. Single-lane closures, Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
 
Primary Roads
* Route 256 - Roadwork at Route 11. Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 262 (Staunton) - Railroad repairs at the crossing of Route 11. Eastbound lane closed, Feb. 19. Inclement weather date is Feb. 20.
* Route 340 - Roadwork at Route 654. Right turn lane closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway) - Traffic signal reconstruction at Route 608 (Tinkling Spring Road/Draft Avenue). Intermittent lanes closures, Monday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Estimated completion is February 17.
* Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway) - Traffic signal reconstruction at Route 649 (Augusta Farm Road/Locust Grove Lane). Intermittent lanes closures, Monday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Estimated completion is February 17.
* Various roads - Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
 
Secondary Roads
* Route 664 - Back Creek Bridge. Bridge work 3.00 miles south of Route 610. Single-lane traffic with 10-foot width restriction, 24 hours-a-day. Traffic controlled by temporary signals. Estimated completion is Apr. 15.
* Route 746 - Road reconstruction with flaggers controlling traffic from Route 745 to Route 616. Estimated completion is Apr. 1.
* Route 906 - Rural rustic project from Route 612 (Indian Ridge Road) to Route 11 (Lee Jackson Highway). Expect delays Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers during work hours. Estimated completion is May 31.
* Route 971 (Lipscomb Road) - Bridge superstructure replacement on South River Bridge, 0.50 mile north of intersection of Route 624 and Route 970. Road closed. Detour signs posted. Estimated completion is Feb. 25.
* (NEW) Various roads - Tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
* Various roads - Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
 
 
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY
Interstate 81
* Mile marker 237.51 to 263.9, northbound and southbound - Debris removal and sign work. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
Primary Roads
* Stone Spring Road - Erickson Avenue/Stone Spring Road Connector Project from the Route 11 intersection to the Port Republic Road intersection. Lane and shoulder closures, daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Estimated completion is spring 2013.
* Route 253 (Port Republic Road) - Road widening project from Route 704 (Boyers Road) to Harrisonburg City limits. All work is subject to change and weather permitting.
 
Secondary Roads
* Route 631 - Little Dry River Bridge. Bridge replacement work 0.50 mile west of Route 818 (Little Dry River Road). Bridge closed. Traffic routed around existing structure. Estimated completion is March 13. Traffic controlled by signs, 24 hours-a-day.
* Route 726 (Erickson Avenue) - Road work at the intersection of Route 33 (Rawley Pike). Intermittent lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic, Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 800 (Long Meadow Drive) - Columbia Gas work from Route 800 (Lone Pine Road) to Route 619 (Wampler Road). Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. intermittent lane and shoulder closure with flagger traffic control.
* Route 800 (American Legion Drive) - Columbia Gas work from Route 801 (Holsinger Road) to end of state maintenance. Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. intermittent lane and shoulder closure with flagger traffic control.
* Route 801 (Holsinger Road) - Columbia Gas work from Route 800 (American Legion Drive) to Route 619 (Wampler Road). Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. intermittent lane and shoulder closure with flagger traffic control.
* Route 890 (Buckley Road) - Columbia Gas work from Route 619 (Piney Woods Road) to end of state maintenance. Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. intermittent lane and shoulder closure with flagger traffic control.
* (NEW) Various roads - Tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
 
Vegetation management may occur district wide on various routes.
