Stephens City police seek armed bandit

Stephens City police are seeking information about an armed robbery that occurred around 7 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Comer Drive.

Police issued the following press release on the incident today:

Press Release: Armed Robbery

On 2/10/11 at about 7 pm an armed robbery of a person occurred in the area of the 800 block of Comer Dr. in the town of Stephens City, VA.

26 yr old John Denny of Stephens City went to visit with a friend on Plymouth St. and parked his car on Comer Dr. Mr. Denney exited his car and was approached by a black male that came from behind a dumpster enclosure and put a gun to his rear shoulder and then to his face and demanded his wallet. Mr. Denny handed over his wallet that contained $250.00 in cash and the suspect was last seen on foot heading towards the rear of the High Point Truck Stop located on Main St.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6' tall, about 180 lbs., light beard, and short hair.
Dressed in all black, black pants, and had a black hoodie not pulled up over his head.
Suspect displayed a black steel hand gun possibly a 9mm.

Mr. Denney was not injured.

Area was checked by Sheriff's Deputies and Stephens City Police with negative results.
