The Virginia Department of Transportation is urging motorists to use extreme caution out on the area's roads this morning.
A winter storm advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m., and rain, freezing rain or drizzle is expected to fall before 1 p.m. There's a slight chance of rain between 1 and 4 p.m. today. High today near 38. Low tonight around 26.
Road conditions as of 10 a.m. today:
Interstate 66 - Clear conditions are in Warren County.
Interstate 81 - Clear conditions are in Rockbridge, Augusta, Rockingham, Frederick and Shenandoah counties.
Interstate 64 - Isolated spots of snow, ice or slush in Augusta County. Clear in Rockbridge and Alleghany counties.
Primary roads - Snow or ice on major portions of the roadway in Shenandoah, Frederick, and Page counties. Isolated spots of snow, ice or slush in Bath, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Warren and Clarke counties. Clear conditions are in Alleghany and Rockbridge counties.
Secondary roads - Snow or ice on major portions of the roadway in Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties. Clear conditions in Alleghany and Rockbridge counties.
