Virginia gets low rating from highway safety group

A report released today by the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety group has ranked Virginia as one of the worst states in the nation for highway safety.

The report gives Virginia a red rating - the worst - because it does not have these recommended laws for optimal safety:

    • Primary Enforcement Seat Belt Law
    • GDL - Minimum Age 16 for Learner's Permit
    • GDL - Nighttime Restriction Provision
    • GDL - Passenger Restriction Provision
    • GDL - Cell Phone Restriction Provision
    • Mandatory BAC Test Law - Drivers Killed
    • Mandatory BAC Test Law - Drivers Who Survive
    • Open Container Law
    • Ignition Interlock Law
    • All-Driver Text Messaging Restriction
