On the roads, Oct. 8-12


The Virginia Department of Transportation reports the following road work Oct. 8-12:

Shenandoah CountyInterstate 81
* Mile marker 263.9 to 298, northbound and southbound - debris removal, ditch cleaning and guardrail work. Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 
Primary Roads
No lane closures reported.
 
Secondary Roads
* Various roads - utility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
 
Frederick County
Interstate 81

* Mile marker 300 to 324, northbound and southbound - debris removal, fence repair, clean drains and sign work. Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* Mile marker 306.53 to 303.73, southbound - paving. Alternating lane closures, Sunday night to Thursday morning, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion is Oct. 31.
* Mile marker 313 to 315, northbound and southbound - In conjunction with the Route 657/Senseny Road Bridge deck replacement work. Shoulder closures and intermittent nighttime lane closures beginning Feb. 20 for installation of barrier for shoulder closures. Estimated completion is mid October.
* Mile marker 313.31 to 310.12, southbound - guardrail work. Alternating lane closures, Sunday night to Thursday morning, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Estimated completion Nov. 1.
 
Primary Roads
* Route 11, southbound - relocation of utilities and installation of right turn lane from the Route 37 southbound off-ramp to Route 1090. Flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work is from Aug. 23 to Oct. 19.
 
Secondary Roads
* Route 657 (Senseny Road, Winchester) - deck replacement work on bridge over I-81 from Millwood Pike (Route 522/50/17) and Berryville Pike (Route 7). Intermittent single-lane traffic cuUtility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
 
Clarke County
Primary Roads

* Route 7 Business (West Main Street) - Mosby Boulevard Project. Construction of Route 636/Mosby Boulevard extension and round about. Flagger traffic control. Estimated completion is May 2013.
* Route 255 - utility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
 
Secondary Roads
* Various roads - utility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
 
 
Warren County
Interstate 66

* Mile marker 0 to 13, eastbound and westbound - debris removal, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* Mile marker 0 to 15 eastbound and westbound - bridge deck work on various structures. Single lane closures 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
 
Interstate 81
* Mile marker 300 to 324, northbound and southbound - debris removal, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 
Primary Roads
No lane closures reported.
 
Secondary Roads
* Various roads - utility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
 
Page County
Primary Roads

* Route 340 - bridge construction work over Compton Creek and Norfolk Southern Railway and approaches, 1.4 miles south of the Page and Warren County lines to 3.50 miles south of the Page and Warren County lines. Daily lane closures with flagger traffic control. Shoulder closures, 24 hours-a-day. A new traffic pattern has been established on a portion of the newly constructed Route 340 alignment, beginning 2.95 miles south of the Page/Warren County line and extending to 2.70 miles south of the Page/Warren County line. Speed limit reduced to 45 mph. Estimated completion is fall 2013.
* Various roads - mowing, pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Secondary Roads
* Route 603 (Fleeburg Road) - Naked Creek Bridge Project. Replacement work at the intersection of Route 603 and Route 609 (Naked Creek Road). Periodic temporary lane closures, daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Estimated completion is April 2013.
* Route 686 (Smeltzer's Road) - Compton Creek/Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge project. New alignment of Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Memorial Highway). Intersection of Route 686 (Smeltzer's Road) and Route 340, from 0.24 miles south of the intersection of Route 662 (Compton Hollow Road) at Route 340, was permanently closed on May 23. A cul-de-sac will be constructed at the west end of Route 686. Motorists wishing to access Route 686 will need to turn off of Route 340 onto Route 662 and travel 0.26 miles east on Route 662mowing, pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching operations and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
