On the roads, Sept. 1-5


The Virginia Department of Transportation reports the following road work the week of Sept. 1-5:

SHENANDOAH COUNTY

Interstate 81

Mile marker 264 to 300, northbound and southbound -- Debris removal, cleaning paved ditches and slopes. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mile marker 265 to 275, northbound -- 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. nighttime right lane closures at various locations Sept. 2, 3, 4 and 6, and from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sept. 5. Milling and paving.

Primary roads

Route 42 - Utility tree trimming.

Route 263 from Route 42 to 6.45 miles west of Route 42 - Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions, daylight hours.

Secondary roads

Route 760 (Water Street) -- Flagger controlled traffic from Route 1403 to 0.30 of a mile east for bridge replacement over Stony Creek. 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.


FREDERICK COUNTY

INTERSTATE 81

Mile marker 300 to 324, northbound and southbound -- Debris removal, cleaning paved ditches and slopes. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary roads

Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions, daylight hours, at:
• Route 7 from Winchester County Line to Clarke County Line
• Route 11 - Line painting in both directions, daylight hours.
• Route 50 from end of four-lane to Route 688
• Route 277 from Route 11 to Route 522
• Route 522 from Winchester County Line to West Virginia Line

Route 522 - Shoulder closures northbound lane for installation of fiber optic conduit between Route 679 and the West Virginia Line.

WARREN COUNTY

Interstate 66

Mile marker 0 to 15, westbound and eastbound -- Debris removal, cleaning paved ditches and slopes. Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary roads

Route 340/522 (North Shenandoah Avenue/Winchester Road), from Duck Street to 17th Street - Old South Fork bridge replacement and interchange modification at Route 55 (Strasburg Road) and 340/522. Lane shift and closure of center turn lane from the south end of the bridge to just past 17th Street and closure of 18th Street to through traffic. Through traffic will detour onto North Royal Avenue and 17th Street. These changes will be in effect through summer 2015.

Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) -- Bridge replacement work over Gooney Creek from 0.67 miles south of Route 605 to 0.35 miles north of Route 605. Traffic controlled by flaggers 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Secondary roads

Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road) -- Traffic controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, for reconstruction of Route 603 from Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) to 0.5 miles north.

Route 613 (Indian Hollow Road) -- TTraffic controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for replacement of low water bridge over South Fork of Shenandoah River. Work zone from Route 628 to 0.35 miles north.

Route 632 (Fetchett Road) --1 2-foot width restriction during installation of box culverts over Broad Run. Work zone is 0.019 mile south of Route 633 (Broad Run Road).
