Winchester resident shot in the hand

A Winchester resident was shot in the hand in the 100 block Dixie Belle Drive near Winchester, according to a news release from the Frederick County Police Department.

Roy Norton, 52, reported the incident to Frederick County police at 10:22 p.m. Sunday. Norton was then transported to Winchester Medical Center and treated for the non-threatening wound to his left hand.

Norton told police that he was approached by the driver of a vehicle three times along Dixie Belle Drive.

He said that he and the driver exchanged words the first time before the driver of the vehicle drove away. The driver then traveled “a short distance” before approaching Norton again, the news release states.

Norton described the vehicle as “a white, mid-to-late 80’s model Ford Mustang” with no rear spoiler.

Police said they have no suspects at this time.
