Was it a tornado?

High winds and heavy rain ripped through Frederick County last night. It uprooted apple trees and bent roofing on David Nichols' farm on Chapel Road near Middletown. The National Weather Service hasn't called it a tornado yet, but Daily employee Allen Dec reported this today:

"I saw the damage to the Nichols farm on my way in to work, traveling
Church Rd. East. It sure looked like the work of a tornado near the
corner of Hites Rd.! About a quarter mile west there was a tree down
that apparently someone had already graciously cut up to get off the
road. The road in the area for that quarter mile was strewn with
branches, twigs and tree bark. Glad that the orchard itself was
spared. I look forward to their delicious peaches every year!!"
