Man barricades himself inside Winchester home

WINCHESTER -- SWAT crisis negotiations teams were sent to a North Purcell Avenue home around 2:30 a.m. today after a man who said he had a weapon barricaded himself inside a house there.

Police were sent to the scene when a verbal argument broke out among residents, according to a Winchester Police press release.

The man left the home at 6 a.m. without incident and was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of self-inflicted non-life threatening injuries. He also will be mentally evaluated by Northwestern Community Services for treatment.
