FBI: 57 law enforcement officers killed in 2007

The FBI released statistics on the number of law enforcement officers were killed and assaulted in 2007:

• 57 offcers were killed in the line of duty


• 83 officers died in accidents while on duty - 49 of those died in vehicle accidents


• 59,201 officers were assaulted while on duty
