The following press release was issued by the Winchester Police Department this afternoon: "At approximately 10:47 am on October 22, 2008, the Winchester Police Department responded to a report of an Armed Robbery at the ABC store located at 2218 Valley Avenue in the City of Winchester. The clerk reported that a black male approached her, led her to the front of the store, and stated he wanted money from the cash register. The clerk opened the cash register, and the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money. "The suspect displayed an unknown firearm during the incident, however no one was injured. The suspect then left the front of the store on foot. Information was received that the possible suspect ran across the parking lot of Kern Toyota through a walking path that led to the rear of the building. "A search of the suspect utilizing a Winchester Police Department K-9 did not reveal the suspect or any further information. Evidence was collected at the scene. "The suspect is described as: "Black male, 5'11 - 6'0, approximately 30 years of age, thin build, wearing baggy brown pants, a white t-shirt, beige trench coat, and a black toboggan with an unknown white emblem. "This incident is being investigated by the Winchester Police Department in coordination with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
