Frederick County, Berkely County sheriff's offices investigate counterfeit money reports

(From a Frederick County Sheriff's Office press release) The Frederick County and Berkely County, W.Va., sheriff's offices have been investigating reports of counterfeit $10 and $20 bills at businesses in both counties and in Winchester.

Investigations are under way on the following incidents:

• On Feb. 14, an individual attempted to pass three $20 bills at Martins on 400 Gateway Drive.


• On Feb. 14, a $20 bill was received at McDonald's Restaurant located at 222 Grocery Ave.


• On Feb. 17, the Econo Lodge at 1539 Martinsburg Pike received three $20 bills.


• On Feb. 22, a $20 counterfeit bill was received at Martins, 400 Gateway Drive.
  

On Feb. 26, investigators from both departments executed a search warrant at the residence of Bryan Daniel Forsythe, 22, of 920 Fort Collier Apts, Winchester. Seized were copiers suspected of being used to print money, computer paper, and cutting instruments. Over $2,600 in counterfeit, copied U.S. bills were recovered during the search.

Both sheriff's offices have been working with the U.S. Secret Service and the Winchester Police Department on this case.
