Scam alert: SBA issues warning to small businesses

(From a press release) The U.S. Small Business Administration is warning small businesses to not respond to letters falsely claiming to have been sent by the SBA asking for bank account information in order to qualify for federal tax rebates.

The letters, which have been sent to small businesses across the nation, are telling recipients they may be eligible for a tax rebate under the Economic Stimulus Act.

If you receive such a letter, notify the Office of Inspector General's Fraud Line at (800) 767-0385, or e-mail at OIGHotline@sba.gov.
