Police seek witness in attempted robbery on Kennedy Drive
WINCHESTER - Winchester police are seeking a woman who witnessed an attempted armed robbery on Monday.
According to a press release issued this morning, a man walking in the area of the 700 block of Kennedy Drive at around 5:30 p.m. was approached by a teen-ager who asked to borrow money.
"The male suspect then pointed a black object at him, which the victim believed to be a knife. The victim then began to run back toward his residence with the male suspect chasing him. The victim attempted to solicit help from a passerby in a green vehicle, however, the male suspect confused the passerby into thinking he was the victim. The male victim then ran to his residence and contacted police," the release states.
"The suspect was last seen in the back yard of a residence in the 800 block of Kennedy Drive. The area was canvassed by officers in an attempt to locate the suspect, however he was not located."
The suspect is described as a clean-shaven black teen, about 16 years old. He had a gold stud earring in each ear, and he was wearing black pants and a black shirt.
Police are seeking the woman in the green vehicle for assistance in providing more information about the suspect's description.
Winchester police Detective Rusty David is investigating this incident.
