* I-81 exit reopens at Clearbrook
By Alex Bridges - firstname.lastname@example.org
(5:20 p.m.) CLEAR BROOK -- Two tractor-trailer drivers face charges after a Wednesday morning crash that closed an Interstate 81 on-ramp for hours.
A 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling south on the ramp to I-81 at the Clear Brook-Brucetown interchange, driven by Anthony Bonk, 46, of Boswell, Pa., struck a 2001 Freightliner parked on the shoulder, operated by Mario Rafael Saenz, 48, of El Paso, Texas, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler.
"[Bonk] was inattentive and ran off the right shoulder and struck the [parked] tractor-trailer," Tyler said.
The moving vehicle overturned and rolled off the shoulder of the ramp.
Rescue workers took Saenz, who was asleep in his truck at the time, to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Tyler said. Bonk was not injured.
Saenz used neither emergency lights nor traffic warnings around the tractor-trailer, Tyler said.
Firefighters contained about 100 gallons of diesel which spilled from the overturned tractor-trailer. A hazardous materials crew came to help clean up the spill, Tyler said. Both vehicles were carrying general freight.
Trooper J.A. Wade issued summons to Saenz for improper parking and failure to have emergency signals on, and to Bonk for reckless driving, according to Tyler.
