The devilishly handsome Chris Mortensen was just on the Worldwide Leader of Sports saying he's started contacting teams to gauge interest in Mr. Terrell Owens. Basically, the Redskins listened to Mort's question, gave an adamant "No, thanks" and hung up.
So ignore my last blog post -- as long as the Redskins don't do an about-face.
So with that bit of good news, if you're a Redskins fan and feel like getting fired up, visit my boy Mike Florio's blog at profootballtalk.com. He also reports on Mort's claim, but then includes a nugget about how the Redskins make sense for T.O. since they are trying to buy a title in 2009.
Say what?
That's right. If a team spends money on an interior defensive lineman, re-signs one of its cornerbacks and brings back an offensive lineman to aid the team's aging, broken blocking system -- it's buying a title. Forget about that whole "operating within a salary cap" thing.
Come on, Florio.
UPDATE: Washington Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato wasted no time saying his team WILL NOT pursue Terrell Owens.
