Twitter, Valley League and high school football

Some Friday notes ...

I'll be sharing my thoughts and links to local high school sports, plus other information like U.Va., Virginia Tech, Redskins, etc. My Twitter will also be used in concert with this blog as we are on the cusp of the 2009-10 sports calendar. Remember, fall sports practice starts Monday ... Who's ready for football?

-- Only two days left of VBL. Playoffs start Monday. Best of three series for all rounds. All four teams in our coverage area (Winchester, Front Royal, Woodstock and New Market) will likely get in. Should be a lot of fun. We'll have coverage of all games, so make sure to check this blog and The Daily's sports page in print or here at nvdaily.com for the latest updates. Remember, VBL games are very tough for us on deadline. They start late, run late and don't give my writers much time to get me a story. Sometimes we are forced to bypass a story for our print edition and only post the story on the Web site, so if you don't see a game in the paper, check here.
