(From a press release) Lowe's of North Winchester, 261 Market St., Winchester, will match gift card purchases on July 31 to help build homes for Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick County during the new store's grand opening.

All Lowe's gift cards purchased at the store July 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 with Lowe's in-store credit for Habitat for Humanity's use on its next project.

Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick Co helps to provide decent, safe, and affordable housing for low-income residents in Winchester City and Frederick County. In 2008, Habital plans to complete five houses and begin construction on five houses in the West Wynd development in Stephens City.

Lowe's is a national partner of Habitat for Humanity International and is the underwriter for its Women Build program. In addition to contributing more than $2 million per year, employees from Lowe's stores volunteer on build sites and host How-To Clinics at stores to give volunteers hands-on practice on the basics of construction.
