(From a press release) Wednesdays in August at the Old Court House Civil War Museum in Winchester is the "Stay-cation Destination" for children and their families.
Children will be admitted free from 1 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday in August. Adults will be charged admission, but teens and children 17 and under will admitted free when accompanied by one adult.
Museum volunteers will be available to help the children experience items used during Civil War times, such as quill pens, hoop skirts, spyglasses, and compasses. There also will be a scavenger hunt and prizes.
The museum, located in the 1840 Frederick County Courthouse, 20 N. Loudoun St., has over 3,000 artifacts from the Civil War. It is open year round Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
