Festivals, a battle and Buddy Holly today

The Strasburg Mayfest continues today. Events include a walk/run at 8 a.m., the Cruise-In Car Show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Mayfest parade at 2 p.m. There's carnival rides and food booths set up behind the fire station.

The 22nd annual Virginia Wine & Craft Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today in historic downtown Front Royal. It's Civil War re-enactment weekend at the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park today and Sunday. Camps open at 10 a.m. and the grounds close at 5 p.m.

Tina Roberts offers stained glass workshops at her New Market studio beginning today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The two-day class will be on the copper foil method. Workshops also will be held June 7 and 8. Classes on intermediate leaded glass will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 24 and 25, and June 21 and 22. Class fees are $125 per student.
