Festival of Spring

Enjoy a spring day with Mom this Mother's Day weekend at Luray's Festival of Spring today. Featured at the festival this year: a 5K race, antique cars and trains, the fourth annual Duck Race, the Appalachian Air Canines 2008 Flying Fisbee Fest, children's activities, fine art and craft vendors and food and drink vendors. The Duck Race starts at 2:30. The Frisbee Fest competition is at 10 a.m.

If mom is into gardening, take her to the Garden Fair at Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce this weekend. The fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Activities include a plant and garden supply sale, crafts, nature walks and Arboretum tours. There will be around 100 craft, plant and food vendors at the fair.

If mom likes beer and history, check out the Belle Grove Of Ale and History Microbrew Beer Festival. 35 specialty microbrewed beers. Music will be by The Reflex and Junkfood. Adults 21 and over, $20. The Virginia Youth Ballet will hold its annual auction and "Celebrate America" show at the Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester beginning at 6 p.m. The show will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and include light hors d'oeuvres and beverages.
