Little League season begins Saturday at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds

(From a press release) Opening day ceremonies for the Little League season will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds on Ox Road in Woodstock.

The ceremony will include a parade of more than 200 players, who will then be introduced to the crowd. The ceremonies will culminate with the National Anthem, Little League pledge and the throwing of the first pitch to begin the season.

Special guests include Olympic Gold Medalist Mary Bradburn and Central and River Bandits coach Donn Foltz.

Players and coaches should arrive by 10:30 a.m. and meet in front of the exhibit buildings on the east end of the fairgrounds.

Woodstock Boy Scout Troups will have food and drinks available before, during and after the ceremonies.

Regular season games will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodstock Fields located east of town off Cemetery Road.
