Town asks residents to save energy

Front Royal has asked town electric utility customers to cut back on the energy they use today.

Extremely cold temperatures expected to hit the region will likely cause demand for electricity to increase in town, according to information from the Department of Energy Services. Conservation by customers allows the town to maintain the low rates. The department suggests customers shut off lights when not needed, unplug small appliances and electric charges not in use and set the thermostat as low as comfortable.

The department has specifically requested that customers reduce their energy use between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. today.
