Utility crews restore power after storm
A storm that swept through the Northern Shenandoah Valley Monday afternoon briefly left hundreds of people without electricity.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative reported at 5 p.m. that the storm had knocked out power to 3,933 of its customers, 2,022 of them in Warren County. Another 1,726 in Clarke County were affected.
By 5:15 p.m., Rappahannock Electric Cooperative had restored power to all but 97 customers in Warren County and 632 in Clarke County.
Front Royal, which provides electricity in and around town, reported just before 4 p.m. that crews were working to restore power to 300-400 customers.
Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative reported that 185 of its customers in Shenandoah County were without power as of 5 p.m. The utility had five customers in Frederick County without power.
