Schrock unveils 2009 travel guide
WINCHESTER -- Schrock Travel unveiled its 2009 travel book during a dedication ceremony Tuesday at the company's offices on Imboden Drive.
Along with sharing its plans for the current year, Schrock dedicated the guide to Don Meese, who was killed in an October car crash in Tennessee that also involved the company's owners, Larry and Dottie Schrock.
The Schrocks recently returned home to Winchester, where they are recovering from serious injuries. In a statement, the couple thanked those in attendance Tuesday for their thoughts and prayers.
This year's guide, featuring the theme "A Blast of a Time in 2009!," includes more than 200 one-day, multi-day, and cruise and travel opportunities. The trips are designed to fulfill travelers' "Bucket List," based on the 2007 film starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in which two terminally ill men escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die.
Highlights of the Schrock 2009 travel guide include a two-week Alaskan cruise tour; a three-day shopping excursion with stops at the Vera Bradley handbags outlet and DeBrand Fine Chocolates in Fort Wayne, Ind., as well as basketmaker Longaberger Homestead in Frazeysburg, Ohio; and a Family Reunion Tour to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., to celebrate Schrock's 30-year anniversary.
The company is also sending a team of motorcoaches to the 2009 presidential inauguration in Washington on Jan. 20, with departures from Winchester, Front Royal and Martinsburg, W.Va.
