Contractor sues Winchester hotel
WINCHESTER -- A local contracting firm is suing the George Washington Hotel to recover what it claims is an unpaid balance of more than $34,000 for renovation work.
According to the complaint, Consolidated Electric Service entered into a written agreement with the historic hotel, owned by local real estate developer Glen P. Burke, around March 23, 2008. Five days later, the hotel paid Consolidated a down payment of $28,679 for the renovations, it says.
Over the next two months, Consolidated performed the work set forth in the agreement, plus additional work requested and authorized by representatives of the hotel, according to the claim.
The total amount due was $1,698,064, of which $1,654,704 was paid, it says.
The suit was filed in Winchester Circuit Court.
