Samuels Public Library will offer the following programs in August:
Aug. 1, 6 p.m. - English as a Second Language will be Mondays and Wednesdays for anyone who wants to learn English.
Aug. 2-9, 4 p.m. - Beginning Conversational French Class will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday for all adults who want to practice their French, from beginners to experts.
Aug. 5, 11 a.m. -- Game & Gab, one Monday each month, will offer cards and board games and time to chat and meet new friends at the library.
Aug. 10, 1 p.m. -- All about Pruning - Saturday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. - Join Master Gardener Frank Baxter as he teaches WHAT to prune, WHEN to prune, and HOW to prune!
Aug. 14, 2 p.m. -- A movie matinee will be on the second Wednesday of every month, with August's movie about a sheltered princess and an American newspaperman who have a romantic vacation in the Eternal City.
Aug. 15, 6:30 p.m. -- Remaining Conscious Online and Off will be presented by Lama Jamdron, born Susan Skolnick, who will provide Buddhist insight on reclaiming your mind in the digital age. Learn how to turn a sea of distraction into an opportunity for awakening.
Aug. 21, 10 a.m. -- Books and Beyond will welcome new and old members. This month, pick your own book to bring and share with the group.
Aug. 22 and 29, Sept. 5 and 12, 5:30 p.m. -- Awaken the Poet Within will be Thursdays with Rich Follett, who will offer a four week workshop for beginners and experienced poets.
