Upcoming candidate events

Aug. 3, 7 a.m. -- A candidate yard sale will offer new yard sale items at the lot adjacent to Wesley Chapel Church, Readus Road, Edinburg. Later in August and September will be a raffle and pulled pork barbecue dinner.

Meet candidates representing District 4 and 5 who will be on the ballot for county supervisors in November. As independents, they receive no financial backing from a political party.

Raffle tickets for a $3,200 complete hot water heater solar panel system can be purchased at the sale or by calling numbers listed below and at the Shenandoah County fairgrounds campaign booth located in exhibit building 2, from Aug. 23 to Aug. 30, with the drawing at the fairground campaign booth on Aug. 30. Tickets are $2 each, three for $5 or seven for $10. Proceeds will go to candidate for District 4 board of supervisor Cindy Miller Bailey and candidate for District 5 board of supervisor Marsha E. Shruntz.

Pulled pork barbecue dinner tickets are $12.50 each on Sept. 28 at Shenandoah County park pavilion 1, Maurertown, from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will feature the bluegrass band Thrash & Holler.
