April 12, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. -- The 12th annual Shenandoah County Heritage Day will be at the Virginia House Shrine Month Conference Center on Va. 263 or Orkney Grade in Orkney Springs. Featured areas this year will be Basye, Bryce Resort, McCanie, Orkney Springs, Bear Wallow Spring, Hudson's Crossroads, Mt. Herman, Poco, Alum Spring, Bird Haven, Hepners, Jerome and Shrine Mont.
Families represented will be Baker, Barb, Basye, Day, Delawder, Dellinger, Fansler, Funkhouser, Hepner, Hockman, Lamma, Lindamood, Maddox, Miller, Mumaw, Myers and Smith. Attendees are asked to bring family Bibles, charts, photographs, house history and other information.
