'Pause for Safety' at New Market library


​10 a.m. July 3: The New Market Area Library will hold a children's summer reading program series event, "Pause for Safety," at the library.​ Acting Town Manager Mike Ritchie has worked with the library and the New Market Fire and Rescue to have many hands-on experiences for children related to safety. Books will be available for check out on safety, fire and rescue, backhoes and other machines. Police ​Sgt. Chris Rinker will talk about his police vehicle and fireworks safety, New Market Fire and Rescue will have a fire truck and rescue squad there for the children to view, and the New Market Public Works crew will bring a backhoe to the library and set up a work zone for a discussion on street safety. Lifeguard Paige Ritchie will discuss water safety.
