Murray's Fly Shop On The Stream Mountain Trout Schools

Our mountain trout schools are held on the Rapidan River in Shenandoah National Park which is 40 miles east of our fly shop. These schools cover casting, entomology, reading the water, proper fly selection and how to fish drys, nymphs and streamers for trout in freestone streams. These are two day schools held on weekdays. Ladies golf clinic

Shenandoah County Parks & Recreation will offer a clinic for women who want to learn or improve their golf game.

The golf clinic will be held on four Monday mornings for an hour starting at 11 a.m. on April 12 at Shenvalee Golf Resort in New Market.

Cost of the clinic is $110 and the registration deadline is April 8. The clinic is open to all women who play at the beginner to intermediate levels. Players must provide their own golf clubs. Golf balls will be provided.

The clinic will cover woods, irons, chipping, pitching and putting.

Our Smallmouth Bass Schools are conducted from our fly shop in Edinburg and we fish either the North or South Fork of the Shenandoah River. We adapt the fishing portion of these schools to meet the specific needs of each individual student whether they are beginners, intermediate or advanced anglers. Thus, these are our primary schools, and they prepare you to fish all smallmouth and large trout streams. We cover casting, tackle selection, knots, and all fishing techniques. 22nd Annual Shenandoah University Golf Tournament

The 22nd Annual Shenandoah University Golf Tournament will be held on June 9 at Rock Harbor Golf Club in Winchester. All 27 holes will be used in the captain's choice-format tournament, which will feature three flights of 15 teams each. Flights will be based on total team handicap. Team entry fee is $500, or $125 per player. The team fee will be reduced to $450 if paid by May 15. Check-in time is 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon.
