Reggie, That is one of the most ignorant and insincere comments I have ever seen on here! I guess in the perfect fantasy world that you live in all we have to do is "bob" around like a bunch of balloons when faced with tragedy!? What a joke! God Bless the young man and his family!...
My family was also at the lake that day and was involved in recovering this poor young man's body. Re some of the insensitive comments made here -- you ought to be ashamed of yourself. This was a real person with family and friends who are struggling to understand how this could have happened. Just because a thought comes into your brain (?) doesn't mean you necessarily need to share it with everyone in a public and permanent way. It's called having some standards for your own behavior and exercising a little self-control....
What is the part that's "shocking" everyone here? That "The man had no swimming experience" per his friend here and that someone DARED to ask what he was doing more than 60 feet out in a lake in the first place? I think your efforts to help find the man are admirable, but that doesn't suddenly make you a moral authority on tragedy, nor does it give you the right to pass judgement on people asking legitimate questions about his actions, or what the repercussions of this are going to be....
First of all, I want to express my sincere sorrow for the family and friends of the victim. Irishman, there is a big difference between Half Moon Beach and Lake Holiday, which Half Moon Beach was a private business for profit that needed to be insured. Authorities did not close them down, they can no longer be insured after experiencing two unfortunate incidents in a short period of time....
