You can't build a soild foundation without some Stairs
In case you hadn't heard, a former Philadelphia Phillie is on the move.
The deal certainly won't raise the media stir that Lee's has, but this move might raise some eyebrows. At 43 years old (you read that right, there's actually someone playing sports OLDER than Brett Favre), Stairs has been relegated to a pinch-hitter's role in recent years, including last season in which the lefty hit .232 in 111 plate appearances with the Padres.
It's not a guarantee Nationals fans will ever get to see Stairs take a swing at the major league level, so don't worry about having to see his frail self in the lineup every few days. The best-case scenario for the Nationals is Stairs helps fill some of the void left from Adam Dunn's move to the White Sox. After all, Stairs hold the major league record with 23 career pinch-hit home runs. Bust that bit of trivia out at your next get together, fellas. You'll have women all over you.
