WINCHESTER — The Winchester Exchange Club plans to host the 12th annual Chili Challenge and Motorcycle Show on Oct. 4. The roster includes newcomers and return champions from around the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Many of the 17 contestants appeared at a press conference held Tuesday at Chili's restaurant in Winchester.

Fall gala to benefit John Handley High
WINCHESTER — Winchester Public Schools will host a fall gala benefit on Saturday to benefit the John Handley High School capital campaign. The black tie optional gala will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley at Glen Burnie, 901 Amherst St. Tickets are $75 per person or $125 per couple, according to the school division's Web site, with $50 per couple tax deductible.
