The Strasburg Chamber of Commerce will host a silent auction of trees and wreaths decorated by local businesses and community members. Items will be on display for bidding today through Saturday at the town hall during regular office hours.

Front Royal Boy Scout Troop 52 will be selling Christmas trees from 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays , 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 21 at the Royal Plaza Shopping Center across from Rural King.

Trees range from $35 to $50. Funds raised will help Scouts pay for summer camp.


Ledo Pizza on state Route 7 in Winchester is sponsoring a fundraiser for Toys for Tots from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone who makes a food purchase will receive a coupon for a free 8-inch pizza to be used at a later date. When ordering, inform a team member that you are supporting Spirit Night and have a flyer or show it via cellphone.


Rockland Community Church will hold a Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan service at 7 p.m. Thursday celebrating St. Andrews Day, the patron saint of Scotland, at 2921 Rockland Road, Front Royal.


The Town of Edinburg will host its annual Old-Fashion Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. Thursday. The lighting of the Christmas tree and children’s party with a visit by Santa, games and refreshments will follow at the fire department. Information: www.townofedinburg.com.


Shenandoah County Master Gardeners will be available to answer home horticulture questions from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the County Extension office in Woodstock. Information: 459-6140.


Strasburg Community Library will hold a used book and priceless sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All books will be $2 or less. There will also be knick-knacks and homemade goodies and desserts for sale. Information: 465-8464 or stlib@shentel.net.


St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Woodstock will hold a fish fry dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday following the Woodstock Christmas parade. The cost is $8 per person or $20 for families.


W.W. Robinson Elementary School in Woodstock will hold its annual holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Woodstock United Methodist Church will host Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. There will also be raffles and door prizes.

A free-will offering will be accepted to benefit the church’s Child Care Center and Preschool.


Friends of Handley Regional Library will sponsor a book drop-off from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bowman Library in Stephens City for its used book sale in March. Visitors can drop off books, CDs and DVDs. Information: 540-662-9041.


A groundbreaking ceremony for the Strasburg Community Garden will be held at noon Saturday at the Town Park. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to noon.

The garden is a joint venture of the Lord Fairfax Soil and Water Conservation District, Town of Strasburg, many churches and organizations and Master Gardeners.

Master Gardener Carolyn Wilson will present the monthly “Adventures in Gardening” program at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg.

The topic will be “Joy to Your Houseplants: Tips for the Holidays and Beyond.” Fort Valley Nursery will donate plants as door prizes.

The Mt. Clifton United Methodist Women will hold their annual country ham potpie lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Hermon Fellowship Hall on state Route 263 west of Mount Jackson. A free-will offering will be accepted.


Meagan Marshall, a LuLaRoe consultant, will host a fundraiser for Family Promise of Shenandoah County from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 781 Spring Parkway, Woodstock.
