Lecture

Shenandoah University’s McCormick Civil War Institute will present a free lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Hester Auditorium at Henkel Hall.

Professor Jonathan Noyalas will discuss “Our Relationship to the Past and Present: World War I in the Shadow of the Civil War.”

Trout

Winchester Trout Unlimited will hold a ‘bar fly’ event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Escutcheon Brewing, 142 W. Commercial St., Winchester.

No fly-tying or fly-fishing experience necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their fly-tying vise and any food they wish to eat or share (no drinks). Information: contact Bill at 540-722-2620.

Kiwanis

Scott Rizzari, manager of G&G Auto Recycling, will be the speaker at the meeting of the Blue Ridge Kiwanis of Winchester at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Best Western-Lee Jackson in Perkins Restaurant.

Homebuyers

A homebuyers education class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Nov. 15 at Blue Ridge Housing, 115 Chester St., Front Royal.

Participants receive a free copy of the Homebuyers Handbook and a completion certificate that fulfills education requirements of some loans and down payment assistance programs.

Revival

Mount Olive Baptist Church in Middletown will hold its annual ‘Revival-in the-Pews’ service with special speakers and music at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Information: 540-931-5242.
