<strong>Humane Society</strong>

The Humane Society of Warren County will sponsor the Fur-liz Navidad Adoption on December 24.  Adoption fees are half price on Christmas Eve. This does not include the price of spay/neuter or puppies under 5 months of age.  All applications must be approved. Information: 540-635-4734.

<strong> Super Seniors</strong>

Senior Moments, a free program for people 50 and older, will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 26 at Grace Fellowship Church of God, 55 Westminster Drive, Front Royal.

The bi-weekly program will include brunch, bingo and puzzles. Information: 540-635-8843.

<strong>Lutheran</strong>

Bethany Lutheran Church will hold its Christmas candlelight service featuring music by Mountain Melody and Marsha Christoph at 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at 496 Bethany Church Lane, Edinburg.

<strong> Diabetes </strong>

The Type 2 Diabetes Support Group will not meet Dec. 28. The group meets monthly on the last Thursday. Information: Deborah at 540-536-5106.

<strong> Concert</strong>

Jan. 2 is the deadline to purchase tickets for the Promised Land Quartet and LeFevre Quartet anniversary dinner and concert Jan. 6 at Abba’s House at My Church in Woodstock.

Tickets are $34 per adult, $12 for children 6 to 14 and free for children under 5. Seating is limited. Information, tickets: 984-4359.

<strong>Dinner </strong>

The Winchester Chapter of Trout Unlimited will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 4 at NW Works in Winchester. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. at IJ Cann’s. <strong> Bar Fly</strong>

Winchester Trout Unlimited has joined with Escutcheon Brewing, 142 W. Commercial St. in Winchester, to host a “Bar Fly” event at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 to offer anglers the opportunity to learn more about the organization and to tie some fishing flies. No experience necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their fly-tying vise and any food they wish to eat or share (no drinks). Information: contact Bill at 540-722-2620.

<strong> Pancake Breakfast</strong>

The Riverton United Methodist Church will hold a Pancake Breakfast 7-11 a.m. Jan. 13 in the Fellowship Hall. A goodwill offering will be accepted.

<strong>Samuels Library</strong>

Join us for the best Winter Reading Club ever! Beginning Jan. 3, experience the magic of reading with our Beauty and the Beast and Other Enchanted Tales theme. As well as receiving prizes for books read throughout this eight-week program, children and teens will have craft programs, movies, puppet shows, magic shows, and a tea party to attend.  The Winter Reading Club will culminate in a celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, to be held on March 3.

Upon registration, children will receive a book bag, bookmark, and reading log for use during the program. Free books and winter-themed prizes will be awarded weekly to readers who read one book within a week, and to pre-readers who listen to five books within a week. Patrons may register at the library, or online at www.samuelslibrary.net, beginning Jan. 3.
