<strong>Card Shower</strong>

A card shower is planned for Louise “Dot” Moomaw, who will celebrate her 87th birthday Monday.  Cards can be sent to 3762 Cooked Run Road, Mount Jackson, VA 22842.

<strong>Edinburg VFW</strong>

The Edinburg VFW Post 2447 will feature Karaoke music by DJ Wolfe  7 p.m.-11 p.m. Friday. Dinner specials, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.,  include a large hamburger for $7.50 or crab cake for $8.50. Dinners are served with homemade fries and coleslaw. Hall is open to the public and for non-smoking.

<strong>Strasburg Presbyterian</strong>

The church’s monthly Harmony Coffee House will meet  7-10 p.m.  Saturday. Featured musical artist is the Con Burch Trio. There will also be an open-mic session. Coffee and homemade desserts are also available.

<strong>Closed</strong>

The New Market Area Library will be closed Monday in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The library will reopen at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Visit the library on Facebook or call 540-740-8650 for weather-related closings and program cancellations.

<strong>Council Meeting</strong>

The Shenandoah County Tourism Council will meet at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Woodstock Cafe. Information: contact Jenna French at 540-459-6227.

A member of Congressman Bob Goodlatte’s staff will hold open door community office hours on Jan. 18. A staff member will be available to meet with citizens to discuss any problems they might have with the federal government or to hear their views on current issues before Congress
