The Virginia Museum of the Civil War will present Home School Day 2018 at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War, 8895 George Collins Parkway, New Market, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 24. Activities include hands-on learning about the Civil War, a guided tour through the battlefield and a viewing of “Field of Lost Shoes.” Bring a lunch or visit an on-site food vendor.

Kiwanis of Old Town will meet at noon Feb. 12 at the Godfrey Miller house, 28 South Loudon St. on the Old Town Walking Mall. Speaker will be Rusty Holland of Concerned Hotline.
The Front Royal Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department held its 125th annual Fireman’s Banquet at which Bonnie Feldhauser was presented an honorary membership for her 44 years of voluntary service. This is the fourth time in the department’s history that this honor has been bestowed on someone who was not a member of the department. President Harry Kisner presented her with a plaque and expressed the department’s appreciation for the efforts in supporting the department over the years and for her service in the community.
