The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior graduating from each accredited high school or a home school program in Clarke, Warren, Shenandoah, Frederick and Page counties who meets scholarship criteria. The criteria are set up to help students who are interested in pursuing a career in horticulture or agriculture college graduation.
The scholarship will be awarded to one senior in each county who has been accepted to an accredited two- to four-year college or university. The application due date is March 1 and can be found at the Master Gardener website www.nsvmga.org
The Narrow Passage Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 122 E. Court St., Woodstock. Program speaker will be Shenandoah County Sheriff Timothy C. Carter. Information: 540-856-3426.
Reliance United Methodist Church will hold a breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. Breakfast is also being held on March 10.

The Front Royal Kiwanis Club will have speakers Melanie Barber and Doug Stanley at the next meeting to give an overview of the Warren County Educational Endowment Program. The meeting will be held at the Oak Grill, 107 Water St. from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Handley Library in Winchester will host Open Chess games from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in February for all ages (families, adults, kids) and skill levels. There will be ChessKid Lessons for new players at 5:15 p.m. Information: www.winchesterchess.com or www.handleyregional.org.
Handley Library will offer scheduled architectural and historical tours a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. Feb. 17.
