Strasburg Community Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All books, including hardback, are $2 or less. Information: 465-8464.
Walnut Springs Church in Strasburg will host bingo from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Food will be available starting at 5 p.m. The cost is 25 cents per card. Proceeds benefit the Oranda School House.
Bowman Library in Stephens City will host a game night from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday for students in middle and high school.
Students can rotate through electronic, card and computer games. Chaperons will be present. Snacks provided.
The Front Royal Police Foundation is accepting donations for its K-9 program.
All donations will be used towards the purchase of a new K-9. The department’s K-9 Boone died on March 5.
Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible contribution in memory of K-9 Boone may mail a check, with “K-9 fund” designated, to: Front Royal Police Department, Attn: Front Royal Police Foundation, 23 E. Jackson St., Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
April 1 is the deadline for Strasburg High School seniors to apply for the Michael J. Morehead Memorial Scholarship.
Applications are available in the guidance office. Two $3,250 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors. Managed through the Shenandoah Community Foundation, the scholarship was established in 2007 in memory of Michael J. Morehead by his parents, Stanley and Patsy Morehead, and his twin brother, Christopher.
Spay Today, the area’s nonprofit reduced-priced spay and neuter program, offers shots and tests at lower rates in addition to reduced-priced spay and neuter programs with many veterinarians over a wide area. Information: 304-728-8330 or www.baacs.org.
The Warren County School Board made the following personnel announcements at its March 7 meeting:
- Skyline High School: Bradley Briggs will replace Jeffrey Monroe as co-assistant baseball coach; Jennifer Brockman will replace Susanne Cline as assistant principal; Jeffrey Settle will replace Jeffrey Monroe as co-assistant baseball coach.
- Warren County Middle School: Karen Heflin will replace Cindy Summers-Duvall as part-time cafeteria assistant.
- E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School: Katelin Moriarty will replace Barbara Ruckman as part-time dining room assistant.
