The New Market Area Library will hold its last preschool story time for the school year at 10 a.m. Friday for ages 3 to 5. The theme will be Memorial Day.



Shenandoah County Master Gardeners will be available to answer home horticulture questions from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the County Extension office in Woodstock. Information: 540-459-6140.


Book sale

The Strasburg Community Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All books will be $2 or less. Information: 540-465-8464.



The Luray Middle School FFA and FCCLA will host a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the school cafeteria. Eating in will be a free-will offering. Takeouts will be $10. Information: 540-743-2660.


Beth El

Beth El Congregation in Winchester will host a family Shabbat and dairy potluck at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by services at 7:15 p.m. May birthdays will be celebrated. An Oneg Shabbat will follow with cake and ice cream.

An introduction to Judaism for potential Jews-by-choice will be held from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Torah study will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host Vibes in the Libes at 12:30 p.m. Friday with Judy, Becky Lee and Pastor John. Those attending should bring their lunch.

Madeline MacNeil, a folk singer and hammered and mountain dulcimer player, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Mount Jackson. A donation will be accepted.
