Rachel Lute has been awarded a scholarship by the Shenandoah Valley chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a sorority for educators. She is the daughter of Robert and Kristin Lute, of New Market. She plans to attend Eastern Mennonite University and will major in preschool/early childhood education.
Summer food program
Shenandoah County Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program.
Meals, provided to children without charge, will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday from June 4-28 at the following schools:
- Ashby Lee Elementary, 480 Stonewall Lane, Quicksburg.
- Sandy Hook Elementary, 162 Stickley Loop, Strasburg.
- W.W. Robinson Elementary, 1231 Susan Ave., Woodstock.
Selah Theatre Project will host acting camps from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays June 11-29 at 400-B Kendrick Lane, Front Royal.
The teen acting camp is for rising ninth graders through graduating seniors. The middle-school camp is for rising sixth through eighth graders.

The Art Group Education Fund is accepting applications by Shenandoah County art teachers for help in purchasing art supplies.
The deadline to apply is June 15. Applications can be downloaded from www.shenandoahcommunityfoundation.com.
