The Strasburg Lions and Northern Shenandoah Ruritan clubs will host their annual carnival today through Saturday on the Strasburg Town Lot.

The carnival will be open at 6 p.m. through Friday and at noon Saturday. Armbands are $15 per person per night.



North Warren Fire & Rescue on Rockland Road will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for ages 4 to 11 and free for children 3 and younger.



Edinburg VFW Post 2447 will sell barbecued chicken from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Pre-orders: 540-984-4355.



F & M Bank in Edinburg will host a free community shred day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Information: 540-984-4129.



The Strasburg Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Mayfest pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Barbecued chicken will be sold starting at noon. The cost is $4 per half.



The baccalaureate service honoring Strasburg High School graduates will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. A reception will follow.




College news

The following students at Shepherd University received degrees during graduation on May 5:

  • Kristen M. Fristoe, of Bentonville.
  • Mary Catherine Graves, of Strasburg.
  • Angela Marie Turnbaugh, of Woodstock.

Hayley Gibson, of Edinburg, has been named to the dean’s list for the fourth straight semester at Radford University. She has been accepted to the university’s College of Nursing.
